Annual Gala 2008
A Love Letter to Charles Mee
On Monday, March 10, 2008, Signature hosted its Annual Gala at the beautiful 583 PARK AVENUE. For the evening of celebration, Signature was thrilled to honor current Playwright-in-Residence, Charles Mee. The theme of the evening was “A Love Letter to Charles Mee” and the night was filled with tributes from family members, past Signature Playwrights-in-Residence, and other notable artists. Additionally, the evening was filled with surprises galore; everything from a marching band to confetti cannons, which topped off the night. For the first time this year, Signature hosted a live auction, which featured some spectacular packages for all ages. Participants also had the chance to bid in support of Signature’s Internship Program as well as the Signature Ticket Initiative. Hugh Hildesley, a professional auctioneer from Sotheby’s, called the auction.

Signature was also honored to present the third annual Playwrights’ Award to Trustee Margot Adams whose incredible support of the Signature Ticket Initiative guarantees $20 tickets for every seat for every performance during each show’s regular run now and for the next three seasons!
Special guests of this year’s gala included Veanne Cox and the cast of Paradise Park, Martha Clarke, 2010-2011 Playwright-in-Residence Tony Kushner, and Iphigenia 2.0 cast members Kate Mulgrew and Tom Nelis, and John Shea.
